What is Seattle Welcome Day?
It is the event Newcomers to Seattle attend to support them as they build a new life in our incredible city. It is facilitated by the Chamber of Connection, a nonprofit organization committed to building connection and community for all Seattlelite.
Is this event for me?
Seattle Welcome Day is for anyone over 16 who identifies as a newcomer. They may have moved here for a job, school, retirement, or a major change in their life.
What happens during Seattle Welcome Day?
Let’s start by clarifying what Seattle Welcome Day is not—it’s not just a bunch of information tables, speakers, or historical facts about Seattle. Our goal is to help you design an amazing new life, not simply provide facts you can find online.
We know what it takes to quickly build a full and thriving life in Seattle (hint).
The majority of your time will be spent working in small groups, guided by a Welcome Facilitator—professional life coaches, facilitators, and community builders who are dedicated to helping you launch your new life here.
In the first half of the event, you'll work with a curated group of fellow newcomers, selected based on the needs you share with us in a pre-day survey. Together, you'll participate in an interactive exercise to create a vision for your thriving life in Seattle over the next three years.
After a lunch break, the second half of the day is focused on building your new life. You’ll identify the information, connections, and resources needed to realize your vision. Your Welcome Facilitators will help you connect with people in the room who can link you to the information, places, and communities that will support your journey.
By the end of the day, you’ll leave with a clear vision, a plan, and new friends who will support you as you build your new life in Seattle.
