Join us in addressing one of society's greatest challenges—declining social connection and trust. As a volunteer with the Seattle Chamber of Connection, you’ll help end the Seattle freeze by welcoming and supporting some of the 60,000 newcomers to the city each year.
Leadership Volunteer Role
Welcome Facilitator
As a Welcome Facilitator, you'll lead newcomers at our monthly Seattle Welcome Days, guiding them to envision the life they want in Seattle and fostering their first connections.
Responsibilities:
Greet newcomers and ensure they feel immediately welcomed
Facilitate a small group (6-10 people) through activities like visioning, reciprocity rings, and friendship accelerators
Collaborate with fellow facilitators to enhance community engagement including monthly calls
Requirements:
Attend a 1 to 2-hour virtual training to learn our methodology
Dedicate one Saturday per month (9 am - 3 pm) to Seattle Welcome Days
Experience facilitating groups and/or life coaching

Leadership Volunteer Role
Neighborhood Lead
As a Neighborhood Lead, you'll play a vital role in helping newcomers make friends and get involved in their new neighborhood.
Responsibilities:
Lead a cohort of newcomers within your neighborhood for 6-12 months
Partner with a local venue (bar, café, etc.) to create a neighborhood clubhouse
Set a weekly or bi-weekly time to welcome newcomers at the clubhouse
Promote these clubhouse meetups through the Seattle Chamber of Connection
Attend and facilitate friendly, engaging conversations at each meetup that support the Six Points of Connection
Support neighborhood members on our online community.
Organize annual neighborhood tour for all newcomers in the city
Requirements:
Attend a 1 to 2-hour virtual training to learn our methodology
Dedicate one evening weekly or bi-weekly to host the neighborhood meetup
Coordinate with the team to promote events and ensure newcomers have local emergency contacts
Gather feedback to adapt events to community needs
Check in on the online community regularly

Our target initial neighborhoods in Seattle are Ballard, Capitol Hill, Central District, Delridge, First Hill, Fremont, Green Lake, Queen Anne, Rainier Valley, South Lake Union, University District, and Wallingford.

Interest Group Captain
We're looking for passionate community members to lead our interest-based groups! As an Interest Group Captain, you'll help foster meaningful connections among members who share similar passions, while ensuring our digital spaces remain engaging and welcoming. Interest areas include:

Key Responsibilities:
Curate and share exciting local activities and events that align with your group's interests, helping members discover experiences they'll love within our city
Lead light, weekly check-ins within your channel to spark conversations and keep the community engaged. These light-touch interactions help maintain group momentum and encourage participation
Serve as a bridge between members and the core team by gathering and sharing community feedback, ensuring we're continuously improving our programming to meet member needs
Guide discussions to align with our community guidelines, maintaining a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable participating
Requirements:
Volunteer at one of our Welcome Days at Town Hall. Dates are March 1st, April 19, and May 17th, with future dates tbd (This is a 5-hour commitment including 1 hour volunteer time and 4 hours of the workshop)
After Welcome Day, this volunteer role requires approximately 1-2 hours per week. The ideal candidate is someone who is enthusiastic about their area of interest, enjoys connecting with others, and wants to help fellow members discover and engage with their passions.
Leadership Volunteer Role
Community Moderator
We're seeking an enthusiastic community builder to serve as our Digital Community, Heylo Captain! In this role, you'll help create a vibrant, welcoming digital space that strengthens connections between members and complements our in-person community experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
Guide and nurture our digital community across all channels, including sub-channels, and general discussion areas
Create engaging weekly prompts that spark meaningful conversations and help members discover and activate connections
Highlight community success stories, member milestones, and meaningful connections to celebrate our growing community
Welcome new members and help them navigate our digital platforms, ensuring they feel oriented and connected from day one
Monitor discussions to maintain a positive environment aligned with our community guidelines
Share community feedback and insights with the core team to help shape our community's evolution
Compile monthly community health reports including:
Engagement metrics and trends across different channels
Notable member interactions and emerging connection patterns
Opportunities for improving digital community experience
Recommendations for new features or programming based on observed needs
Success stories and impact measurements
Requirements:

Strong understanding of our community's values and six points of connection
Natural talent for sparking conversations and making people feel welcome
Enthusiasm for building meaningful connections between members
Good judgment in handling sensitive situations or discussions
Experience with digital community platforms (Heylo experience is a plus!)
Basic understanding of community metrics and ability to identify meaningful patterns in member engagement
